Luxury bathroom features and what each one needs

Premium fittings look simple once they are in, but most of them need planning before the walls are closed up. This is what each feature needs from your room.

Choosing products

How do you choose the products for a luxury bathroom?

You choose the products you love from any supplier or showroom, and we take care of ordering and fitting them.

Any supplier or showroom

You are free to choose your bath, taps, shower and tiles from any supplier or showroom. Tell us what you have picked and we order it and fit it. If you would rather buy everything yourself, our fit-only bathroom installation service installs it for you.

Layout advice at the survey

At your free survey we give practical layout advice, such as where a freestanding bath fits best and where concealed pipework can run. We do not produce 3D designs, but everything is agreed in writing before work starts.

How it works

How a luxury bathroom is installed

A luxury bathroom follows the same clear order as any refit, with extra planning at the first fix for concealed fittings.

  • 1. Free survey: we measure the room, check the floor, walls and water system, and talk through the products you like.
  • 2. Fixed-price quote: a written quote that shows exactly what is included.
  • 3. Ordering: we order your chosen products from your supplier or showroom.
  • 4. Strip-out: the old bathroom comes out and the waste is taken away.
  • 5. First fix: pipework, concealed valves, toilet frames and underfloor heating go in, and the electrician wires what is needed.
  • 6. Waterproofing and tiling: wet areas are waterproofed, then the walls and floor are tiled.
  • 7. Second fix and handover: the bath, shower, toilet, basin and taps are fitted, and we walk you through everything.

The details

Details that make a bathroom feel luxurious

Two upgrades make the biggest difference to how a bathroom feels every day: a warm floor and a clean, uncluttered wall.

Underfloor heating

An electric mat sits under the tiles and suits a single room, while a wet system runs from your central heating. Electric systems are fitted and certified by a registered electrician. Read our bathroom underfloor heating guide.

Concealed and wall-hung fittings

A concealed thermostatic valve leaves only the controls on show, and a wall-hung toilet hides its cistern behind a false wall. Both are planned at the first fix, before tiling, so the finish stays clean.

Pricing

How much does a luxury bathroom cost?

The cost of a luxury bathroom depends mostly on the products you choose and how much hidden work they need, so we give a competitive, fixed-price written quote after a free survey.

What changes the price

  • Products: the suite, taps, shower and tiles you choose.
  • Concealed fittings: valves and toilet frames need pipework and false walls.
  • Tile size: large-format porcelain needs flat, well-prepared surfaces.
  • Underfloor heating: an electric mat or a wet system, plus the electrics.
  • Layout changes: moving the bath, toilet or waste pipes adds work.
  • Floor work: strengthening or levelling under a heavy bath.

FAQs

Luxury bathroom questions, answered

Something else? Call 0141 280 9490.

How much does a luxury bathroom cost?

It depends mostly on the products you choose and how much hidden work they need. Concealed valves, wall-hung toilets, large-format tiles and underfloor heating all add preparation before the finish goes on. Because no two luxury bathrooms are alike, we give you a competitive, fixed-price written quote after a free survey, and the price only changes if you change the plan.

Can I choose my own suite and tiles?

Yes. You can choose your bath, taps, shower and tiles from any supplier or showroom. Tell us what you have picked and we order it and fit it. If you would rather buy everything yourself, we can fit it for you instead through our fit-only service. Either way, the fitting is done by our own team and covered by our 2-year workmanship guarantee.

Can you fit a freestanding bath upstairs?

Usually, yes. A freestanding bath is heavy once it is full of water and people, so the floor has to be strong enough to carry it. We check the floor and the joists at the free survey, especially in older homes and tenement flats, and we tell you if any strengthening is needed before you choose a bath. Any extra work is shown on your quote.

Is underfloor heating worth it in a bathroom?

For many people, yes. A warm floor makes a tiled bathroom more comfortable and helps wet floors dry faster. An electric mat suits a single bathroom and is fitted and certified by a registered electrician, while a wet system runs from your central heating. We talk through which type suits your room and heating system at the free survey, and it is planned before tiling.

What is a concealed shower?

A concealed shower has its thermostatic valve and pipework built into the wall, so only the controls and the shower head are on show. It gives a clean, minimal look and pairs well with a rainfall head. Because the valve sits inside the wall, it has to be planned and fitted before tiling, which is why we agree the layout at the survey.

Are wall-hung toilets strong enough?

Yes. A wall-hung toilet is fixed to a steel frame that sits behind a false wall and is anchored to the floor and the wall, so the frame carries the weight rather than the bowl alone. The cistern is hidden inside the frame and is reached through the flush plate for maintenance. The floor underneath stays clear, which makes cleaning much easier.

How long does a luxury bathroom take to install?

Most bathrooms we fit take 5 to 10 working days from strip-out to handover. A luxury bathroom with concealed fittings, large-format tiles or underfloor heating can take longer, because there is more preparation before the finish goes on. We give you a timescale for your design with your written quote, so you know how long the room will be out of use.

Do you offer a design service?

We give practical layout advice at your free survey, based on the size of the room, where the pipes can run and the products you like. We do not produce 3D designs or drawings. Everything we agree, from the position of the bath to the shower controls, is written into your fixed-price quote before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
