Tenement flats
Narrow rooms, shared soil stacks and old joists need careful planning. Read about our tenement bathroom renovation service.
Full renovations
A full bathroom renovation replaces everything in the room, from the pipework behind the walls to the last tile, in one managed project. Glasgow Bathroom Fitter renovates bathrooms across Glasgow and Renfrewshire with our own fitters, a registered electrician for certified electrics and one project manager from survey to handover. You get a fixed-price written quote, and most bathrooms are finished in 5 to 10 working days.

Scope
A full bathroom renovation includes every trade the room needs, so you do not have to find and organise them yourself. The Federation of Master Builders points out that a bathroom refit usually involves a plumber, tiler, electrician and builder, and often a plasterer and decorator too. With us, all of that sits in one fixed-price quote.
We can supply the suite and tiles, or fit products you have already bought through our fit-only service.
Order of work
A bathroom renovation follows a set order, so each trade finishes before the next one starts. This is the order we work in and who does each stage.
| Stage | What happens | Who does it |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Survey | We measure up, check the pipework and drainage, and give you layout advice | Project manager |
| 2. Quote | You get a fixed-price written quote. If a building warrant is needed, we handle the application | Project manager |
| 3. Strip-out | The old suite, tiles and flooring come out, and the skip and council permit are arranged | Our fitters |
| 4. First fix | New pipework, drainage and cables are run before the walls are closed up | Our fitters and registered electrician |
| 5. Walls and floor | Boarding, plastering and waterproofing of the shower area | Our fitters |
| 6. Tiling and flooring | Wall tiles or panels go up and the new floor goes down | Our fitters |
| 7. Second fix | The suite, shower, taps, lights, fan and towel rail are fitted and connected | Our fitters and registered electrician |
| 8. Finish and handover | Decorating, final checks and a walk-through. You receive the electrical certificate and your guarantee starts | Project manager |
Hidden problems
If we find a problem behind the old tiles, we stop, show you, and give you a fixed price to fix it before any extra work goes ahead.
Taking out an old bathroom can uncover rotten floorboards or joists, slow leaks that have damaged the floor, crumbling plaster and old or corroded pipework. In older homes, lead water pipes or materials containing asbestos can also turn up. Most of these cannot be seen until the old suite and tiles are removed.
We never add extra work to your bill without asking. If the strip-out reveals a problem, we stop work on that area, show you what we have found and explain the fix. You get a fixed price for the extra work, and we only go ahead once you agree, so the final cost never comes as a surprise.
Timescale
Most bathroom renovations take 5 to 10 working days from strip-out to handover.
A straightforward renovation that keeps the existing layout usually sits at the shorter end of that range. Your project manager plans each stage so the next trade is ready to start, and we aim to leave you with a working toilet each evening wherever possible.
Moving the toilet or shower means new drainage, wet rooms need tanking that has to cure, and floor repairs add time. If your plans need a building warrant, it must be approved before that work starts. See our day-by-day renovation timeline and when a building warrant is needed.
Pricing
The cost of a bathroom renovation in Glasgow depends on the size of the room, how much changes and the products you choose, so we price every job individually with a fixed-price written quote after a free survey.
What changes the price
Avoid these
The most common renovation mistakes happen before any work starts, when products are chosen or layouts are planned without checking the room.
A bath or shower tray that looks right online may not suit the room, the door swing or the existing pipework. Choose your layout first, then the products, so everything fits the space you actually have.
The toilet needs a large waste pipe with a steady fall to the soil pipe. Moving it without checking that route can mean cutting joists or boxing in pipes, which adds cost and can weaken the floor.
Bathrooms in Scotland need good extraction to prevent condensation and mould. A properly sized extractor fan, fitted and certified by a registered electrician, protects your new tiles, grout and paintwork.
When the plumber, tiler and electrician are booked separately, a delay in one job holds up the next. One project manager keeps every stage in order and gives you one person to call.
Every home
We renovate bathrooms in every kind of home across Glasgow and Renfrewshire, and each one brings its own considerations.

Family bathrooms often benefit from a better layout or a walk-in shower, and many owners choose a bath-to-shower conversion or accessible bathroom adaptations for the years ahead.
Modern bathrooms are often a refresh of the suite and finishes, and many owners add a second bathroom with our en-suite installation service.

No, most people stay at home during a bathroom renovation. The work is contained in one room, and we aim to leave you with a working toilet each evening wherever possible. If your home has a second bathroom or toilet, the work is even easier to live with. We talk through how the days will run at your free survey, so you can plan around the 5 to 10 working days most renovations take.
Yes, we can supply everything as part of your renovation, including the suite, shower, taps, tiles and flooring. If you would rather buy your own products, we can fit those instead through our fit-only service. Either way, we check sizes and pipework at the survey before anything is ordered, so the products suit your room and the quote reflects exactly what is being fitted.
Yes. All electrical work in your renovation, such as lighting, the extractor fan, a heated towel rail or underfloor heating, is carried out by a registered electrician we work with. You receive an electrical certificate when the work is complete. Bathroom electrics must meet strict safety rules because of the water in the room, so the work is planned from the start and managed by your project manager.
Usually not, if you are replacing your bathroom like for like in the same layout. A building warrant from your local council is usually needed if you move the bathroom, change the drainage or create a new bathroom such as an en-suite. If your plans need one, we handle the application for you, and we tell you at the free survey whether a warrant is likely before you commit to anything.
We stop work on that area, show you what we have found and explain how to fix it. You then get a fixed price for the extra work, and we only go ahead once you agree. Common finds include rotten floorboards, old leaks, damaged plaster and worn pipework. If we suspect asbestos, we stop and advise you to have it tested before we continue.
Yes, layout advice is part of every free survey. We measure the room, check where the pipework and drainage run, and talk through where the bath, shower, toilet and basin could go. We explain which changes are simple and which add cost, such as moving the toilet, so you can choose a layout that suits your budget before you receive your fixed-price written quote.
Choose your layout and products after the survey, not before, so everything fits. A few days before work starts, clear the bathroom of toiletries, towels and furniture, and let us know about parking or anything that affects access to your home. We arrange the skip and the council skip permit, so you do not need to organise waste removal yourself.
Yes, swapping a bath for a walk-in shower is a popular change in a full renovation. A low-profile tray and a glass panel usually fit in the space where the bath was, which keeps the drainage simple. We check the floor and pipework at the survey and recommend a walk-in shower or a wet room, depending on your room and how you want to use it.
